The Kingdom of Amarugia

Fifty miles south of Kansas City lies a rural community whose history makes it different than any other in the United States.  The residents of this small Missouri hamlet were once ruled by a king.

The Kingdom of Amarugia: The True Story of Missouri’s Country Kings, tells the strange story of a monarchy beginning with the early white settlers of western Missouri in the mid-1800s.  The book chronicles the origin of the kingdom, the lineage of the kings, and what life may have been like for its subjects during its existence into the early 1900s.

This is the unbelievable true story of backwoods neighbors and how they managed the trials and tribulations of building a functioning society on the western frontier.

Hippie War: Battle for the Harrisonville Square

In the spring of 1972, the small, Missouri town of Harrisonville found itself with a hippie problem. Hippies had settled into the town square surrounding the county courthouse. City leaders needed to act. But how? Three murders and one suicide later, the situation was still not resolved. Tiring of the situation, Harrisonville citizens formed a vigilante group to drive the hippies off the square.
